Reflection Constructive tools

Reflection on Constructive tools
During my school days, our teacher used to preach for the whole class and at the end of the day, we were asked to answer some questions and then memorize the whole lesson. It was very difficult for us to do it. We didn’t have an opportunity to explore nor did we have an active interaction in the class. That’s why we didn’t learn to think critically. We solely relied on the outdated text and followed what text tells us to do. But then, we didn’t have technologies that can be integrated into our classroom. There were monotonous teachings until I was in high school.  Now we live in a world of technology and it is everywhere entwined in almost every part of our culture. I can see how technology affects the way people live, work, play, and most importantly learn. If those devices are used correctly, it gives students the opportunity to enhance interaction with their classmates and instructors through online discussion. Using presentations software (PowerPoint) enable to embed high-resolution photographs, diagrams, videos, and sound files to supplement the text and verbal lecture content. where I found it makes curiosity and enthusiasm in learning.

A constructive tool is a tool used to manipulate information, visualize one's understanding, and build new knowledge. where It helps me to work cooperatively and construct a shared understanding of new knowledge through creating and using blogs, Gmail account, virtual learning environment, Google classroom, video conferencing. Around the middle half of the 21st century, John Dewey first began to suggest ideas that would form a basis for constructivism. He believed that school should not consist solely of rote memorization and taking notes, thinking that it was not an effective form of learning. He thought that students should be given real-world situations in which to apply and practice knowledge, and started conceptualizing this thought that students should think for themselves.https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1fkM3FMHYQW1Ty_TZD70uCbJJsU6NPMoV/edit#slide=id.p2
Either for me, learning does not happen through the one-way street.  During my school days, we didn’t have an opportunity to explore various constructive tools. The teaching method was always teacher-centered.  And from my teaching practice experience,   I also realized that learning doesn’t merely happen from talking to a student.  Much of this school of thought also developed from Lev Vygotsky, who thought that children’s experiences happen in a socially constructed way, and then again, on an individual level. He states that learning best happens when students get to construct and form their own knowledge. Instead of being told how to think or what to memorize, students are encouraged to create their own understanding of a subject.

THANK YOU.
